Bloggers Unite: A Fundraising Giveaway Event For The Victims Of Typhoon Haiyan – CLOSED
As if a 7.2 magnitude earthquake last October wasn’t enough, the central region of the Philippines was hit by another disaster, a 295kph typhoon on November 8, 2013. Supertyphoon Yolanda (International name: Haiyan), one of the most powerful storms ever recorded, smashed the central part of the Philippines and left hundreds of millions of destroyed of properties, death toll at around 4,000, and over 650,000 displaced survivors desperate for food and shelter among others.
As bloggers, we thought we could help these people by throwing this huge fundraising giveaway — a way we are all very familiar with. We have already raised $515 from this event and continuing to receive more donations through GoGetFunding.com. There will be a turnover of funds to a legitimate organizations that buys, repacks, and hands out relief goods directly to the victims. A lot of person have done something beautiful to me but this one is unforgettable. My eldest daughter doesn’t want me to hug her so tight. But when the time that we had a little fight with my mom-n-law because of some reasons, I left alone in the room w/ my daughter and cried so hard (I was pregnant that time). She (my eldest daughter when she was 2yrs old) looked at me and hug me tight (without me telling her to hug me) and told me “They hurt you mom? Don’t cry anymore mom! Stop crying please” with her hands at my back lovingly assuring me that everything will be ok.

My family and relatives who were in Tacloban were struck by Yolanda. For a week, I haven’t had any communication from them not until my Mama called me up and told me that they were safe. I immediately asked help from our church for donations to my fellow Taclobanons. After a day or two, donations were already pouring in. Food, water and clothing were given. My hubby and I were also given some cash that we could use when we were in Tacloban. Those help that we got were the most beautiful thing that happened to us because we were able to share it to my family, relatives and even to strangers who needed help. :)
